  • Start with bar at mid-thigh level
  • Grib bar with slightly wider than clean grip
  • Keep low back tight, and start with chest over bar and hips pushed back
  • Begin initial pull by extending hips, knees and ankles
  • Explode by forcefully shrugging and fully extending hips, knees and ankles
  • Pull bar up keeping it close to chest
  • Continue pulling bar overhead and drop under bar
  • Catch bar overhead with elbows locked in athletic stance with knees bent

Coaching Point : I like track athletes to take a snatch grip one-hand length wider than their clean grip, because they never do anything with their hands wider than their body. So I don’t see the reason to take a very wide grip on the bar.
