Exercise: Lateral Step-Up + Reverse Lunge

  • Stand to side of knee-high box holding dumbbells, wearing weighted vest or bearing some other load
  • Step laterally onto box with right leg, raising left knee waist-high. Briefly balance on right foot
  • Step off box onto left foot, then right
  • Take large lunge backward with right leg
  • Lower body until right knee almost touches floor, keeping weight back and left knee over left ankle
  • Push up with right foot and return to start position
  • Repeat for specified reps
  • Perform with opposite leg
