DOR•SI–flex Pronunciation: dor-se-’fleks // Function: Verb
Definition: The act of bending something, typically the hand or foot, toward its upper surface. (When you point your toes toward your shin, you’re dorsiflexing your foot.)
Example: Sprinters should dorsiflex their feet before striking them off the ground to minimize ground contact time and produce a forceful leg drive, both of which help them reach top speed.
