Many pitchers perform chest exercises with dumbbells, because they allow a greater range of motion for the shoulders. When you work with a bar, the width of your grip never changes during a rep. Since dumbbells are independent, you can turn them and change your grip width. This lets you to move the weights through the pattern most comfortable for your shoulders, which prevents injury and inflammation.
