Serving others besides teammates, classmates, family or friends is commendable work, and scholarships that recognize it are available, such as the Sam Walton Community Scholarship. A one-time non-renewable award of $1,000 is offered to students based on their community involvement, academic records, extracurricular activities, work experience and SAT/ACT test scores.
