After our coach gives us a pep talk and about 10 minutes before we go out for each game, our team prays together. We pray for God to watch over us and ask Him to protect us from injury. After the game, we all sit down together, eat a meal prepared by our parents and then all go out together that night.

Years ago, one of my coaches would have the whole team come over on the weekends. We would watch the movie Hoosiers and have lunch. Then he would tell us that what makes a great team is banding together for the common goal. Then, after his great motivating speech, he would have every single member of the team call their parents and tell them that he loved them.

How does your team come together before a game? What about after victory, defeat or deep in the off-season? Is there a prayer or chant you say together before the game? A meal you share? A movie you watch? Bring it to us at letters@stackmag.com. If we like what you got, we’ll feature your team story.
