Good hitters watch the pitcher from the bench, adjust to his style and then go up to the plate with a plan. Try the same thing: get in rhythm with the pitcher from the bench; observe his tendencies—see if he always throws certain pitches in particular counts or if he likes to work to one side of the plate more than another; place his release point. Guys who do this truly understand the game of baseball.
