Before you head off for college visits this summer, research schools that are along the same route or in the same region. Besides saving money, time and gas, “you’ll get a good feeling for a particular city, area or region as a whole,” says John W. Birney Jr., associate director of undergraduate admissions at Johns Hopkins University.
