Before a game, in the locker room, we get together in a circle and join hands for a team prayer. Then we storm out of the locker room and line up for “Bruin Jacks.” This season we are incorporating the New Zealand All Black rugby team’s “Haka” into our pre-game ritual to get the crowd pumped and intimidate the opposing team.

[After a game], we form a “V” for victory—whether we win or lose—to show that the scoreboard doesn’t matter. If we played our hearts out, that’s all that matters.

How does your team unite before a game? What about after victory, defeat or deep in the off-season? Is there a prayer or chant you say together before the game? A meal you share? A movie you watch? Bring it to us at letters@stack.com. If we like what you got, we’ll feature your team story.
