During my rivalry basketball game my sophomore year, my team was losing by 20 points at halftime, and most of our fans had left the building. During halftime, we all looked at each other and laughed—even though we were playing only all right and losing. We went out to the second half, and, in the end, pulled off the victory by nine points.

Our junior Argos team enjoyed a perfect season and won the Ontario Minor Football League Championship. That will always be with me. As well, I got the opportunity to play for my high school team in the SkyDome and made a play that landed me on the six o’clock news. Playing in that professional venue was an experience I will never forget and hope to repeat again some day.

How does your team unite before a game? What about after victory, defeat or deep in the off-season? Is there a prayer or chant you say together before the game? A meal you share? A movie you watch? Bring it to us at letters@stack.com. If we like what you’ve got, we’ll feature your team story.
