Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year [sammy.bodybymilk.com]
If you excel on the field and in the classroom, then your glass is half full for earning some extra college cash.

The National Milk Mustache “got milk?” Campaign will reward 25 outstanding high school seniors with $7,500 college scholarships as part of its Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY) award program.

To qualify, SAMMY applicants are required to describe in 75 words or less the importance of milk as part of their everyday, healthy lifestyle.

Winners are invited to attend an awards ceremony at The Milk House at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports. SAMMY winners will also appear in their own milk mustache ad in USA Today.

Entries must be submitted before midnight on March 6, 2009.

Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards [hispanicheritageawards.org]
These awards honor young Latino leaders with scholarships for their college education.

Graduating high school seniors of Hispanic heritage who have at least a 3.0 GPA may apply in any of nine youth award categories, including sports.

Three recipients (Gold, Silver and Bronze) are selected for each category in 12 regions. Gold regional winners receive $3,000 grants, Silver winners $2,000 and Bronze winners $1,000.

Nine national winners, one from each category, are eligible to receive an additional $5,000 educational grant, a laptop computer and an all-expense-paid trip to attend the awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.

Applicants may apply for as many categories as they choose within any one region, provided they are able to attend the ceremony in their region.

Applications must be postmarked no later than March 6, 2009.

Marian Wood Baird Scholarship Award [usta.com/foundation]
One of several scholarship opportunities offered by the United States Tennis Association, this award continues the legacy of Marian Wood Baird and her more than 40 years of volunteer service to the sport of tennis.

This scholarship is offered to one outstanding high school senior who has been involved in youth tennis, excels academically and has demonstrated leadership qualities as well as sportsmanship both on and off the court.

The individual selected receives a $15,000 scholarship spread over four years to cover the cost of tuition, room and board and educational materials.

Candidates must complete the application and other required forms no later than February 9, 2009.
