It’s Thursday and time for the STACK Elite 50 College Rankings update. The “bullpen” (the employees who punch in the numbers for the rankings) held a meeting earlier this week to refresh our memories on the best practices for compiling all the data that’s involved in coming up with the top schools. Once we decided on that, we assigned sports to each person and started attacking them with a vengeance.
I was assigned football and men’s and women’s basketball, which are three huge college sports where the competition is stiff and yearly results change frequently. I finished all three charts this week, and I can say that there are some surprising changes from last year. It took me a day-and-a-half to complete all three sports and I’m one of the happiest men in the world that my work days of staring at excel files are over…until next year.
As the rest of the “bullpen” trickles in their final charts, it looks like we may have a new number one school. I won’t know for sure until our vice president of content returns from his vacation next week, because he’s the man responsible for compiling all our data into one final top 50 chart.
We’re off to a great start, and on schedule to meet all our deadlines for our editor, Rachel Trem (missed deadlines equals an upset editor, and we don’t want that). Check back next week as I will have a ton more information regarding the final rankings!
