"I do yoga," candidly states New Jersey Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur.

Go ahead and argue that yoga is for girls, but you can't argue with the proven benefits of yoga [improved flexibility, balance and muscular endurance] or the career numbers of the NHL's all-time wins leader: 999 games, 557 wins and 101 shutouts. Now that's longevity.

Yoga is an integral part of Brodeur's flexibility work, he says, because the low-impact movements of yoga develop core stability, balance and coordination, all of which provide a solid foundation for goaltending. It also helps break the monotony of those long dog days of summer. "Doing these yoga classes makes training in the summer a little more fun," says the three-time Stanley Cup champion.
